There's a great program in Boston, Dive Kulture, teaching scuba to inner-city kids. Designed for at-risk teens, it's reportedly the first program in the nation to offer scuba certification together with jobs in the environmental industry. They have now merged with Backscatter, a Monterey, CA-based underwater and marine photography store. Underwater Photo-Tech's new name will be Backscatter East and will remain in its current location with no staff changes. What does the change mean for photographers? The store's newsletter promises a greater selection of equipment, better prices and increased phone support hours. Of course, only time will tell. |
