Jaws 3
Not surprisingly, all of the sequels to Jaws, one of the greatest movies ever made, are themselves among the worst. And Jaws 3 is right at the top of the list. This is also the first one that introduced us to the concept of the shark seeking revenge against any and all relatives of Chief Martin Brody. In other words, this time it's personal.
In this one, the Brody boys are all grown up, with Dennis Quaid playing Mike, the brother that was almost eaten in the "pond" when his sailboat was capsized in the original. He's now one of the chief engineers in a Florida Sea World-type park. Bess Armstrong is his girlfriend, Lea Thompson is his brother's girlfriend and Louis Gossett Jr. is the bad guy owner of the park. With such a cast, you'd expect the movie to at least be decent. It isn't.
The great white shows up and immediately begins eating underwater poachers, water skiers and tourists foolish enough to enter the underwater tunnel/aquarium. The special effects throughout are hilariously bad. In fact, they're almost bad enough for Jaws 3 to qualify as So Bad It's Good. But they're not. The acting and storyline are just too annoying for the movie to be enjoyed on any level. If all you want is a quick laugh, watch the last ten minutes of the movie, when the shark attacks the underwater control station. They're almost as funny as Blazing Saddles. There's a fair amount of diving and underwater footage in the movie but not enough to save it. Not even close.
