| Revenge of the Creature
This is the sequel to The Creature From The Black Lagoon, and true to form, it's not nearly as good as the original.
In this one, a team of "scientists" returns to the Amazon to capture the Creature and bring him back alive. In short order, they dynamite the lagoon, scoop up the comatose monster and chain him inside an aquarium tank where sightseers can gawk at him while other "scientists" study him. Those studies include depriving him of food and zapping him with an electric cattle prod. Naturally, the Creature doesn't care for any of this but he still manages to fall in love with the female scientist torturing him. You have to be pretty cold-blooded not to root for him here.
Revenge of the Creature has none of the charm of the original. Not only is the story lame but it has more than the usual supply of holes. After the Creature is captured in the fresh water of the Amazon, they put him in a salt water tank and feed him ocean fish to no ill effect. The majority of the divers wear their tanks upside-down. A constant stream of bubbles emanates from the top of the Creature's head. And Clint Eastwood is made to play a fool with only a few lines -- obviously there was just no way to give him a bigger part, what with the stellar cast they already had.
As for the diving and underwater photography, there's a fair amount but most of it takes place in the aquarium tank. It's still better than nothing, though. The main problem is that Revenge just isn't as good as it could have been.
